Male Infertility - A Fact Less Talked About!
A couple can be said to be going through a phase of infertility if even after one year of unprotected intercourse they are unable to conceive. Though there are several reasons for the couple to be infertile, who is more responsible, is not an easy question to be answered. While in India, a majority of the population believes that women are the only one to be blamed for infertility, the fact is, out of every 10 infertile couples, at least seven cases have men partially responsible. Thus male infertility plays an equal role in the rate of infertile couples around.
The major symptom of male infertility is not being able to conceive a child. However, there can be some underlying symptoms as well which can help understand that the male partner among the couple needs treatment. These factors include an inherited disorder, hormonal imbalance, dilated veins around the testicle or a condition that blocks the passage of sperm.
Majorly male infertility is caused due to low sperm production, however, there are several other reasons too. Abnormal sperm function or blockages that prevent the delivery of sperm can also cause infertility among men. Often due to prolonged illness, injuries or chronic health issues men may face these problems. And not to be ignored are the major factors of lifestyle choices like smoking and consumption of tobacco or alcohol that can increase the chances of infertility among men.
