Menstrual Abnormalities
One of the major
causes of infertility is irregular or painful menstruation. Normally the period
cycle consists of 21 to 35 days. Though it may vary from female to
female. During the first few years of menstruation, it is common to have
irregular periods. However, with the growing age, if things don’t get normal
one must plan to visit the doctor.
There can be several
reasons behind irregular and/or painful periods, like a family history of
irregular menstruation, menopause or menarche, any kind of physical or mental
stress, smoking or side effects of some ongoing medications.
You may need a doctor
immediately if you:
Develop a fever and/or
chills after using tampons
Develop an
unpredictable pattern after having regular periods
Bleed for more than
seven days
Bleed excessively i.e.
need to change your tampons or pads every hour or two
Have periods in less
than 21 days
Don’t have periods
after 35 days
Pain is unbearable
